Homemade SOS-free Hummus

This is my super simple homemade hummus recipe that is sos-free (free of any added salt, oil or sugar), quick to whip up and is so versatile.

This recipe can be adjusted to what you have on hand and to your taste preference:

  • No chickpeas - use white beans

  • No garlic cloves - use granulated garlic

  • No lemons - use white wine or apple cider vinegar

  • Like it a little more tangy - add more lemon or add vinegar in addition

  • Prefer a richer garlic flavor - roast the garlic cloves first

  • Don’t like cumin - try curry or smoked paprika powder

  • Don’t like any beans at all - try it with roasted eggplant, pumpkin or squash

Have fun and experiment with it!

This is a staple when I am going on a roadtrip. I always make a batch to throw in the cooler with a bunch of chopped veggies and have a snack at my fingertips in the middle of nowhere.

Here are some of my favorite variations of this hummus:

  • Red Beet Hummus

  • Black Bean and Pumpkin Hummus

  • Roasted Curried Carrot Hummus

  • Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Give it a try today and I think you’ll have a new snack option that will become a favorite.
